Differences Between 2019 Mazda CX-5 & 2019 Mazda CX-9
Serving Batavia, Cincinnati, and Withamsville
As Mazda's best-selling model in the previous year, the 2019 CX-5 returns with more confidence than before. Offering five trims, this two-row crossover SUV retains a compact body. Having slight updates to its mid-size platform, the 2019 CX-9 has a seven-passenger capacity with sleeker exterior styling. Engineered for sporty and efficient performance in cities, the patented SKYACTIV-G technology is assigned to both vehicles. These urban-minded family cars also run on the SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS. Additionally, the highly responsive i-ACTIVSENSE suite adds best-in-class safety features to each car.
Capabilities
A 187-horsepower rating is given to the 2019 CX-5's 2.5 L engine block. This DOHC powertrain has a peak torque output of 186 lb-ft. With some assistance from the Cylinder Deactivation, the I-4 engine attains optimum fuel economy in the city. Reserved for more powerful performance in high-level trims, the 2.5T engine generates up to 250 hp with premium fuel. Boosted by the Dynamic Pressure Turbo technology, this updated powertrain produces 310 lb-ft. This signature turbocharged engine is standard in the 2019 CX-5. Besides sharing identical turbo propulsion systems, these Mazda crossover SUVs also have the same driveline technology, such as the G-Vectoring Control Plus. This high-performance function works in tandem with the SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission. Each vehicle has a six-ratio gearbox for firm and smooth handling. Power is transferred to the CX-5's all-new Predictive i-ACTIV AWD. The 2019 CX-9 didn't get an update for this signature AWD, which still delivers good all-weather handling.
Technology
Except for the noticeable different in display size, the MAZDA CONNECT is virtually the same in the 2019 CX-5 and CX-9. You'll find familiar entertainment channels from previous years, ranging from Aha and Stitcher to Pandora and HD Radio. Multi-year subscriptions to Travel Link and Traffic by SiriusXM are synced with the navigation system. The signature infotainment system automatically handles text messages from synced mobile phones. Additional connections could be made with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. If you prefer even more entertainment choices, browse the SiriusXM lineup. Bose designed and manufactured the audio systems in these Mazda crossover SUVs. The CX-5 has 10 speakers, and the CX-9 comes with 12 speakers. Both sound systems take advantage of the AudioPilot 2 and CenterPoint 2 technology. Comparing the instrumentation in these Mazda cars, it's clear that the 7-inch LCD MID gets all of the attention. The Active Driving Display also shows alerts from the all-new Traffic Sign Recognition.
Safety
The Advanced Smart City Brake Support prepares the 2019 CX-5 and CX-9 for urban adventures. Maximum braking power is provided by the ASCBS when there's an increased probability of a forward crash. Each car also has the Radar Cruise Control, which allows you take the foot off the accelerator and enjoy a long commute. Both Mazda models boast the Lane-Keep Assist that corrects the steering system. As a more expensive model, the CX-9 naturally has other advanced driving aides, like the Trailer Stability Assist. Installed in both vehicles, the 360 View Monitor gives you better perception of the surroundings. Additionally, these crossover SUVs have sonar-operated parking sensors for safe maneuvers at low speeds.
